Monarch men finish indoor
track and field season at Virginia Tech Last Chance Invitational
Nasiro-Sigo places third
in men’s 5,000-meter run
BLACKSBURG, Va. –
The 2006 indoor track and field
season concluded on Saturday for the Methodist Monarch men’s
track and field team at the Virginia Tech Last Chance
Invitational. The Monarchs had two athletes competing for
possible NCAA Division III championship opportunities. Although
neither qualified for nationals, they both had personal best
times in respected events.
Sophomore Husein Nasiro-Sigo placed third in the men’s
5,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 15:14.56 minutes.
In addition, Kawesi Darby placed 14th in the men’s 200-meter
dash in a personal-best time of 22.75 seconds. Darby also ran
7.11 seconds in the preliminaries of the men’s 60-meter dash.
Methodist starts the outdoor season on Mar. 18 in the Seahawk
Invitational at UNC-Wilmington.
