Methodist
wins three events in day two of Winter Frolic
NEWPORT NEWS,
Va. – The
Methodist Monarch and Lady Monarch track and
field teams had another strong day at the 2005
Winter Frolic on Saturday at Christopher
Newport. Overall, Methodist won three individual
events on the men’s side.
Fresh off his
victory in the 35-pound weight throw on Friday,
DeVonne Armstrong followed that up by winning
the shot put on Saturday with a toss of 48-4.75
feet. David Leonard finished fourth in the event
with a throw of 46-11.25 feet. Also, Taz Petty
won the men’s 55-meter dash in 6.7 seconds,
while Nevin Rayford won the men’s triple jump
with a distance of 44-4 feet.
Clifton McKoy
finished second in the men’s 55-meter hurdles
in 8.09 seconds and fifth in the men’’ high
jump with a height of 6-2 feet. Mike Hill
finished fifth in the men’s long jump with a
distance of 20-7.5 feet, and Chardonnay Labbon
finished eighth with a jump of 19-11.5 feet.
On the women’s
side, Meg Coe finished third in the shot put
with a throw of 39-4 feet, followed by Chemier
Buford in fifth at 36-11, while Tiffany Campbell
was 13th at 27-7.5.
