October 1, 2007 FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South has announced their athletes of the week. The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week. Evan Monteiro has been named the USA South Men's Soccer Player of the Week. The junior forward from Jupiter, Florida scored three goals during a 1-1 week for the Monarchs. In a 6-1 win over USA South foe Averett, Monteiro tallied a hat trick with three goals on five shots. Monteiro scored Methodist's first, third and fifth goals of the game. In a 2-0 loss to ninth-ranked N.C. Wesleyan, Monteiro was held scoreless but did manage to have one of the three Monarch shots on goal. Jordan Grady has been named the USA South Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore libero from Erwin, North Carolina did all she could defensively as the Monarchs went 1-2 last week, all against USA South competition. In ten games, Grady posted 74 digs, seven service aces and six assists. In each of the three contests, Grady's dig totals were match-highs. In a 3-1 win over N.C. Wesleyan, Grady had 28 digs, a match-high six service aces and two assists. In a 3-0 loss to Christopher Newport, Grady tallied 21 digs with three assists and one service ace.
