Volleyball Pushes Greensboro to Five Games
Sophomore Tiffany Zellhart finishes with 30 assists and 14 digs

GREENSBORO, NC - The Monarchs took the first game in a 2-3 (30-28, 14-30, 23-30, 30-28, 12-15) match against Greensboro Tuesday night. Greensboro won the next two before Methodist took the fourth game to push it to five. Greensboro won the final game to secure the match. Methodist moves to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in the USA South while Greensboro is 5-5 this season and 1-0 in the conference.

In the first game, the Monarchs took an 18-9 lead after three consecutive service aces from sophomore Taylor Cates. Greensboro came back to take a 27-22 lead, but the Monarchs went on an 8-1 rally to win the game. The Pride came back and rattled off a 30-14 win in game two and took game three 30-23. During the fourth game, Greensboro held an early lead, but the Monarchs came through with two kills from sophomore Laura Gilbert and a kill by junior Sara Yeatman to lead the charge towards a 30-28 win. The Monarchs tied the fifth game 11-11, but Greensboro went on to win 15-12 for the match win.

Yeatman finished with 11 kills while Cates had eight. Sophomores Allison Averitt and Kelsey Carter had seven kills a piece. Sophomore Tiffany Zellhart added 30 assists with 14 digs for the night.

The Monarchs travel to face Salem on Friday at 7 pm.
