Monarchs Sweep Guilford 3-0
Junior Sara Yeatman leads Methodist with 17 kills

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Methodist hosted Guilford College on Tuesday night and despite some pressure from the Quakers, Methodist prevailed with the 3-0 sweep (30-28, 30-14, 30-25). The Monarchs improve to 13-12 overall this season while Guilford drops to 6-15.

Guilford led early in game one before Methodist went on a 12-5 rally in the final half to win 30-28. In game two, Methodist earned the first point on an attack error from Guilford before sophomore Taylor Cates took over serving the next twelve points for the Monarchs to take a 12-0 lead. Methodist coasted to a 30-14 win for the 2-0 game advantage. Guilford came out in game three hoping to deny the shutout with a 15-9 lead. Methodist battled back and tied the game at 18 on a Guilford attack error. The score was tied again at 21, 22, 23 and 24 before Methodist came through with the 30-25 win on a kill by sophomore Allison Averitt.

Junior Sara Yeatman led Methodist with 17 kills and added 10 digs on the night. Sophomore Tiffany Zellhart dished out 31 assists while sophomore Jordan Grady had 14 digs.

The Monarchs' next match is at Meredith Oct. 17 at 7 pm.
