USA South Names All-Conference Volleyball Teams
Junior Sara Yeatman receives Second Team honors
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for volleyball. A total of 27 student-athletes have been named to the USA South All-Conference teams. Methodist junior Sara Yeatman has been selected to the Second Team. release

Sophomore Jordan Grady finishes with ten digs in three games
DANVILLE, VA - The sixth seeded Methodist volleyball team traveled to #3 Averett Tuesday night for the first round of the USA South Tournament. The Monarchs lost in three games (30-14,30-23,30-19) to finish their season at 16-16 overall. Averett advances to the semifinals with a 25-11 record this season. release

STAUNTON, VA - Methodist stumbled in a 1-3 loss to Mary Baldwin to start the day, but came back with a 3-0 (30-25, 30-21, 30-25) win over Peace to finish the regular season. The Monarchs move to 16-15 overall this season and 9-9 in the USA South. release

Junior Sara Yeatman led with 14 kills
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Methodist Monarchs needed a win on Tuesday night to ensure their chances of hosting a USA South Tournament match next week. The team lost in three games to N.C. Wesleyan (27-30, 23-30, 16-30). The Monarchs move to 15-14 overall this season and 8-8 in the USA South while the Bishops improve to 19-12 on the year and 10-6 in the USA South. release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - With the regular season wrapping up this week, the Methodist volleyball team is still fighting for a chance to host the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament. The team hosted a Tri-Match today beginning with a 3-0 (30-25, 30-27, 30-22) win over Shenandoah. In the final match of the day, Methodist lost to Averett 0-3 (18-30, 20-30, 28-30). The Monarchs move to 15-13 overall this season and 8-7 in the USA South. release

RALEIGH, NC - Meredith took game one, but Methodist came back to win the next three to secure the 3-1 victory (29-31, 30-22, 30-27, 30-21). The Monarchs improve to 14-12 overall this season and 7-6 in the USA South while Meredith falls to 5-21 overall and 2-11 in the conference. release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Methodist hosted Guilford College on Tuesday night and despite some pressure from the Quakers, Methodist prevailed with the 3-0 sweep (30-28, 30-14, 30-25). The Monarchs improve to 13-12 overall this season while Guilford drops to 6-15. release

LA GRANGE, GA- The Monarchs faced off against Piedmont and LaGrange on Saturday at LaGrange College. Methodist lost 0-3 (27-30, 24-30, 14-30) to Piedmont and then fell 0-3 (16-30, 24-30, 26-30) to LaGrange. release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Methodist volleyball team came back from a two game deficit to force a fifth game, but Greensboro jumped to an early lead in game five before securing the 2-3 (29-31, 31-33, 30-21, 30-25, 8-15) win. Methodist moves to 11-10 overall and 6-6 in the USA South while Greensboro is 13-8 overall and 9-3 in the conference. release

Methodist lost in three games to Christopher Newport (18-30, 12-30, 26-30) and then dropped another 0-3 match to Ferrum (26-30, 16-30, 27-30). With the losses, Methodist falls to 11-9 on the season and 6-5 in the USA South Conference. release

With the win, Methodist improves to 11-7 on the season and 6-3 in the USA South Conference, while N.C. Wesleyan falls to 10-10 overall and 3-4 in the conference. release

RALEIGH, NC - Methodist continued their winning ways from Friday night with two wins on Saturday over Mary Baldwin and Peace. The Monarchs opened with a three game sweep of Mary Baldwin (30-21, 35-33, 30-13) before coming back against Peace to win 3-1 (25-30, 30-25, 31-29, 30-14). With the two wins, Methodist improves to 10-7 on the season and 5-3 in the USA South Conference. release

In their second match of the day, Methodist fell 1-3 (14-30, 30-27, 14-30, 18-30) to Averett. The Monarchs move to 6-6 on the year and 1-2 in the conference. release

GREENSBORO, NC - The Monarchs took the first game in a 2-3 (30-28, 14-30, 23-30, 30-28, 12-15) match against Greensboro Tuesday night. Greensboro won the next two before Methodist took the fourth game to push it to five. Greensboro won the final game to secure the match. Methodist moves to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in the USA South while Greensboro is 5-5 this season and 1-0 in the conference. release

ROANOKE, VA - The Monarchs traveled to Roanoke College this weekend and started with a 3-1 win over Sweet Briar (30-27, 26-30, 30-25, 30-22). Host Roanoke took the Monarchs in three in the second match of the day (21-30, 16-30, 19-30), but Methodist will finish with Randolph and Emory & Henry on Sunday. The Monarchs move to 3-3 on the season. release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- Methodist battled through five games with Spelman to win their first match of the season Saturday morning 3-2 (27-30, 30-25, 28-30, 30-17, 15-5). McMurry took the second match 0-3 (23-30, 19-30, 25-30) before the Monarchs swept Spelman 3-0 (30-27, 30-17, 30-21) in the final match of the day. release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Monarchs started their season Friday night in a match against the visiting Indians from McMurry University. McMurry took on Spelman in the first match of the night and defeated the Jaguars 3-0. The Indians kept their winning ways knocking off Methodist 0-3 (20-30, 17-30, 22-30) as well. release

Monarchs return eight letterwinners from last season
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- Head coach Eddie Matthews welcomed the volleyball team back to campus earlier this month intent on using last year’s experience to create greater success this season. Eight players return from a 15-17 season in 2006. The team adds three freshmen to the mix this fall. release

Athletic Department Announces Scholar Athletes of the Year
Rhyan Breen, Sara Poling and Kelly Shipkowski honored with highest academic honors
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- 
Each year, the Methodist Department of Athletics honors the male and female student-athletes with the highest cumulative grade point average.  Football player, and recent graduate Rhyan Breen will receive the Male Scholar Athlete of the Year award.  For the first time there was a tie amongst the females with both Sara Poling and Kelly Shipkowski named Female Scholar Athletes of the Year.  release
