Volleyball Splits During the First Day at Roanoke
Sophomore Allison Averitt tallies five solo blocks in a win against Sweet Briar

ROANOKE, VA - The Monarchs traveled to Roanoke College this weekend and started with a 3-1 win over Sweet Briar (30-27, 26-30, 30-25, 30-22). Host Roanoke took the Monarchs in three in the second match of the day (21-30, 16-30, 19-30), but Methodist will finish with Randolph and Emory & Henry on Sunday. The Monarchs move to 3-3 on the season.

Junior Sara Yeatman led the Monarchs with 18 kills and added 14 digs against Sweet Briar. Sophomore Taylor Cates had 13 kills while sophomore Jordan Grady finished with 16 digs. Sophomore Tiffany Zellhart dished out 48 assists in the four games while sophomore Allison Averitt made five solo blocks.

In the second match, Yeatman had 10 kills while Zellhart added 25 assists and Grady finished with 13 digs.

Methodist faces Randolph at 10 am Sunday and Emory & Henry at 2 pm.
