Monarchs Defeat Randolph Before Falling to Emory & Henry
Methodist completes competition at the Roanoke Classic

ROANOKE, VA - Methodist dropped the first game to Randolph Sunday morning but came back to win 3-1 (28-30, 30-15, 30-16, 30-23). In the second match of the day, the Monarchs lost to Emory & Henry 1-3 (21-30, 31-33, 32-30, 32-34). Methodist moves to 4-4 overall this season.

The Monarchs racked up the kills against Randolph. Junior Sara Yeatman led with 16 while sophomore Allison Averitt had 12 and sophomore Taylor Cates had 11. Averitt scored six service aces while sophomore Tiffany Zellhart registered 44 assists. Sophomore libero Jordan Grady had 19 digs while Yeatman added 16.

Methodist lost the first two games against Emory & Henry, but pushed them to a 32-30 win in game three before falling in game four. Yeatman had 23 kills and 22 digs while Grady picked up 25 digs. Sophomore Laura Gilbert made 15 kills and Zellhart had 51 assists.

Yeatman was selected to the Roanoke Classic All-Tournament team.

The Monarchs open USA South play Tuesday at Greensboro at 7 pm.
