USA South Announces Preseason Polls
Men's and women's basketball polls released today

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South Conference office released the preseason polls for men's and women's basketball. The polls are based on votes from each conference member's head coach without voting for themselves.

The Methodist women's basketball team has been picked third in the USA South with 63 points. The women received three first place votes and ranked just behind Christopher Newport in second with 65 points. Ferrum was picked at number one with 75 points and four first place votes. The Methodist women finished 13-13 last season and return nine letterwinners including three starters. The team opens the 2007-08 season Nov. 16-17 at the Emory & Henry Tip-Off Classic.

The men's basketball team was selected fifth in the poll receiving 14 points. Averett is at the top of the list with 33 points and three first place votes. Second ranked Greensboro received two first place votes with third ranked N.C. Wesleyan receiving the remaining two first place votes. The Monarchs went 11-14 during the 2006-07 season and return nine letterwinners this season. Returning starters Antwin Shuford and A.B. Lehmann headline the roster. Methodist tips off this season with an exhibition against Kazakhstan Nov. 8 at 7 pm.
