Lady Monarchs place two on All-USA South team for women’s basketball
Williams, Jackson both selected second team All-USA South

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist Lady Monarchs placed two players on the 2005-06 All-USA South Athletic Conference team for women’s basketball on Wednesday. Forward Stacy Williams and guard Lisa Jackson were both selected second team All-USA South, as voted on by the conference head coaches.

This marks the first time since the 2000-01 season that Methodist has had multiple representation on the All-Conference squad. Williams was selected for second straight year, while this is the first All-Conference selection for Jackson.

Williams, a 5-foot-10 junior from Beaufort, N.C., averaged 11 points and six rebounds a game, while shooting 45 percent from the field this season. She scored in double-figures in 18 of the Lady Monarchs’ 26 games, including a career-high 20 points at North Carolina Wesleyan.

In conference games, Williams averaged 13 points and seven rebounds a game and shot 73 percent from the free throw line.

Jackson, a 5-8 sophomore from Cameron, N.C., averaged 11 points and five rebounds a game, while shooting 82 percent from the free throw line to rank third in the USA South. She scored in double-figures in 15 games this season, including a career high 30 points in the season opener at Emory & Henry.

In conference games, Jackson averaged 12 points and five rebounds a contest and shot 79 percent from the free throw line.
