Monarchs Run Through Averett 62-39
Junior Courtney Bissette scores 7 points with three assists and three steals

DANVILLE, VA-  The Monarchs rebounded Tuesday night with a solid win over conference member Averett University.  The team built their lead throughout the game leading by as many as 29 points in the second half.  Methodist improves to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the USA South while Averett falls to 0-10 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

The Monarchs scored first with a layup by senior Antionette Holliday.  The teams exchanged baskets early on before junior Ashley Harris gave Methodist a permanent lead on a jumper with 15:29 remaining in the half.  During the final six and a half minutes of the half, the Monarchs went on a 15-2 run to take a 24 point lead into the locker room at halftime.

Multiple players made contributions as no one played longer than 23 minutes.  Harris and senior Stacy Williams led the scoring with 10 points a piece while sophomore Kristen Whitehurst added eight.  Junior Chelsale Hester dominated the boards with 8 rebounds while Holliday added six.

The Monarchs will host Peace College on Thursday at 7 pm.
