![]() Lady Monarchs’ Bissette selected USA South Player of the Week Sophomore honored after 19-point effort against Bennett FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The USA South Athletic Conference released its weekly awards for women’s basketball on Monday, and the Methodist Lady Monarchs took the top honor. Guard Courtney Bissette was selected as the USA South Player of the Week. Bissette is the first Lady Monarch to receive the Player of the Week honor, and the third Methodist player this season to be recognized by the conference. Freshmen forwards Kristen Whitehurst and Ann Forsberg have been honored once as USA South Freshman of the Week. In the Lady Monarchs’ only game last week against Bennett on Saturday, Bissette was the catalyst. The 5-foot-8 sophomore from Spring Hope, N.C., scored a career-high 19 points on 5-from-9 shooting from 3-point range. She also recorded three assists in Methodist’s 73-53 victory. For the season, Bissette is averaging six points and one rebound a game, while shooting 45 percent (9-for-20) from 3-point range. Methodist travels to Greensboro for its USA South Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. |
