Lady Monarch freshman Ann Forsberg was selected as the USA South Rookie of the Week. Forsberg is the second Methodist player this season to earn Rookie of the Week honors in the USA South. Two weeks ago, freshman forward Kristen Whitehurst was honored as USA South Rookie of the Week. A 6-foot forward from Fayetteville, N.C., Forsberg had a tremendous week for the Lady Monarchs. She scored a career-high 21 points on 8-for-9 shooting from the field in Methodist’s 79-55 rout at Meredith on Wednesday. That was followed by 14 points and 13 rebounds for her first career double-double on Friday against Ohio Dominican in the Bethany Holiday Tournament. Forsberg added eight points on Saturday at Bethany for an average of 14.3 points in the last three games. For the season, Forsberg is averaging eight points and four rebounds a game, while shooting 50 percent from the floor, including a whopping 70 percent (7-for-10) from 3-point range. At the free throw line, she is a perfect 11-for-11. Methodist (3-5) is off for the holiday break. The Lady Monarchs return to action on Jan. 7 at home against Bennett. |
