Lady Monarchs’ Forsberg selected USA South Rookie of the Week
Freshman forward receives second weekly conference honor on the season

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – For the second time this season, Methodist’s Ann Forsberg was recognized as the USA South Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for women’s basketball. The freshman forward received the honor from the conference on Monday.

Forsberg, a 6-footer from Fayetteville, N.C., had two tremendous outings in Methodist’s first two USA South games of the 2005-06 season. She scored 17 points on 5-for-9 shooting from 3-point range on Wednesday in a 76-67 defeat at Greensboro. That was followed by a 13-point performance on 4-for-6 shooting from 3-point range in Saturday’s 88-71 victory over Ferrum.

For the season, Forsberg is averaging nine points and three rebounds a game, while shooting a whopping 61 percent (17-for-28) from 3-point range. In addition, she is also shooting a stellar 93 percent (13-for-14) from the free throw line.

Methodist (5-6, 1-1 USA South) plays host to Averett on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Riddle Center.
