Methodist Takes Care of Business Against Greensboro
Junior Amanda Underwood led the team with 14 points

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Last month, the Methodist women's basketball team looked like they were going to defeat Greensboro before the Pride came back and won by six. This time around, the Monarchs took care of things early and held on for the 79-68 win. Methodist moves to 13-5 this season and 9-2 in the USA South.

Greensboro came out fast and scored the first four points, but Methodist came back and scored the next 11 points to take an 11-4 lead. The Pride closed the lead to one with just under 10 minutes to go in the half, but Methodist hit three 3-pointers in the final six minutes to help the team to a 40-28 lead at halftime.

The second half started and the Pride came on strong, but Methodist never let up. Junior Amanda Underwood hit four 3-pointers in the second half to boost the Monarchs run. Greensboro's Cecile Nettles hit a jumper to move within three points with 2:56 on the clock, but the Monarchs maintained their composure to earn the 79-68 victory.

Underwood led the team with 14 points while senior Chelsale Hester recorded her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Senior Ashley Harris added 11 points.

Methodist will take the road this weekend to take on the first place Ferrum Panthers Saturday at 2 pm.
