Methodist women's basketball coach part of North Lenoir Hall of Fame inaugural class

LA GRANGE, NC- Methodist head women's basketball coach, DeeDee Jarman was inducted into the North Lenoir High School Hall of Fame earlier this month. A former three-sport athlete at North Lenoir, Jarman was honored along with Johnny Shepherd and Wayne Floyd as part of the inaugural induction class.

While attending North Lenoir, Jarman was a three-year volleyball and basketball starter and four-year softball starter. She was chosen to play for the high school team while still in ninth grade at the junior high. The softball team advanced to the playoffs three years and Jarman competed in the state finals as a sophomore. Jarman was also a star point guard on the basketball team that only lost 14 games in Jarman's three years.

North Lenoir held an induction banquet Sept. 7 to recognize the three inductees where Jarman was thankful for the people that supported her success. After high school Jarman competed in basketball and softball at Mount Olive College before earning her bachelor's degree at UNC-Wilmington. Jarman began her career at Methodist as the women's basketball assistant before becoming the head coach in 1997. She has since added Senior Woman Administrator and Associate Athletic Director to her titles while serving at Methodist. During the induction ceremony, Jarman noted "The foundation for my career was set at North Lenoir because I love my job and have fun when I go to work."

Jarman will begin her 11th season at the helm of the Monarchs this winter.
