Methodist releases 2006-07 women's basketball schedule
Lady Monarchs have 12 home games for the upcoming season
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Methodist women's head basketball coach DeeDee Jarman released the 2006-07 Lady Monarch schedule on Wednesday. Methodist has 12 home games for the upcoming season, including the sixth annual Methodist/Cross Creek InnKeeper Turkey Shootout on Nov. 25-26. Methodist opens the 2006-07 at the Randolph-Macon Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 17-18, and the home opener is on Nov. 21 against Meredith at 7 p.m. Click here for the 2006-07 Methodist women's basketball schedule.

Lady Monarchs place two on All-USA South team for women’s basketball
Williams, Jackson both selected second team All-USA South

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist Lady Monarchs placed two players on the 2005-06All-USA South Athletic Conference team for women’s basketball on Wednesday. Forward Stacy Williams and guard Lisa Jackson were both selected second team All-USA South, as voted on by the conference head coaches. This marks the first time since the 2000-01 season that Methodist has had multiple representation on the All-Conference squad. Williams was selected for second straight year, while this is the first All-Conference selection for Jackson. release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The USA South Athletic Conference released its 2005-06 postseason honors for women’s basketball honors on Wednesday, and the Methodist Lady Monarchs had one of the three award winners for the season. Forward Kristen Whitehurst was selected as the USA South Rookie of the Year. It’s the first time a Methodist player has received the conference rookie honor. release

Lady Monarchs fall 57-50 at Peace in USA South Quarterfinals
Jackson scores 16, Williams scores 14 as Methodist finishes 13-13 overall
RALEIGH, N.C. – The 2005-06 season came to an end for the Methodist Lady Monarchs on Tuesday as they dropped a 57-50 decision at Peace in the quarterfinals of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament. With the defeat, Methodist finishes an even 13-13 overall on the season. Lisa Jackson scored 16 points for Methodist, followed by Stacy Williams with 14 points. release

Christopher Newport spoils Lady Monarch Senior Day 68-51
Harris paces Methodist with 14 points in defeat
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – With it being Senior Day, the Methodist Lady Monarchs aimed to finish up the 2005-06 season on a high note against visiting Christopher Newport on Saturday. But the visiting Lady Captains spoiled the party by downing Methodist 68-51 at the Riddle Center. With the defeat, Methodist finishes the regular season 13-12 overall and 8-6 in the USA South Athletic Conference. The Lady Monarchs drew the fifth seed in the upcoming USA South Athletic Conference Tournament, and will play at Peace in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. release

Lady Monarchs finish strong with 86-78 triumph over Shenandoah
Jackson records second double-double with 23 points, 12 rebounds in Methodist victory
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – There were plenty of scares for the Methodist Lady Monarch women’s basketball on Friday night against visiting USA South Athletic Conference rival Shenandoah. However, Methodist finished strong and pulled out an 86-78 victory over the Hornets at the Riddle Center. The victory was the second straight for Methodist, which improved to 13-11 overall and 8-5 in the USA South. Sophomore guard Lisa Jackson paced Methodist with a double-double, scoring 23 points with 12 rebounds. release

Jackson rallies Lady Monarchs past North Carolina Wesleyan 66-61
Sophomore guard scores 18 points off the bench for Methodist
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – When push came to shove for the Methodist Lady Monarchs on Monday at rival North Carolina Wesleyan, Lisa Jackson stepped up. The sophomore scored 18 points off the bench to help rally Methodist past North Carolina Wesleyan 66-61 at Everett Gymnasium. The victory ends a two-game losing streak for Methodist (12-11, 7-5). It was the Lady Monarchs’ first season sweep over North Carolina Wesleyan since the 2002-03 season. release

DEMOREST, Ga. – Playing outside the USA South Athletic Conference for the final time in the 2005-06 season, the Methodist Lady Monarch women’s basketball team dropped a tough 75-65 decision at Piedmont on Saturday at the Johnny Mize Center. Underwood scores career-high 14 points in Methodist defeat
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist Lady Monarchs had an opportunity to take control of third place in the USA South Athletic Conference with a victory in Thursday’s showdown against visiting Peace. However, the visiting Pacers rallied strong late in the second half and pulled out a 63-56 victory over Methodist at the Riddle Center. The defeat ends a two-game winning streak for Methodist (11-10, 6-5). Freshman guard Amanda Underwood scored a career-high 14 points for Methodist. release

DANVILLE, Va. – Road victories are important in terms of winning the USA South Athletic Conference, and the Methodist Lady Monarchs continued to be “Road Warriors” on Tuesday night. The Monarchs made it two straight victories with a 67-58 decision at Averett in the Grant Center. Methodist (11-9, 6-4) has now won three of its last four games. Williams scores career-high 20 points in Methodist victory
FERRUM, Va. – Late-game heroics are starting to become the norm for the Methodist Lady Monarchs as the stretch run approaches in the USA South Athletic Conference. Saturday afternoon was no different as Methodist scored six points in the final minute of the game and came away with a thrilling 72-69 victory at Ferrum. The victory improves the Lady Monarchs to 10-9 overall and 5-4 in the USA South. The Lady Monarchs sweep the season series from Ferrum. Stacy Williams scored a career-high 20 points for Methodist in the victory. release

Jackson scores 17 points in USA South defeat for Methodist
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Over the past few seasons, Methodist and Greensboro have dueled out in some epic battles in women’s basketball, and Wednesday night was no different. The visiting Pride, however, pulled out a late rally and edged Methodist 61-56 in USA South Athletic Conference action at the Riddle Center. The defeat drops Methodist to an even 9-9 on the season and 4-4 in the USA South, while Greensboro remains in first place in the USA South. WINCHESTER, Va. – For the second time in the last four days, the Methodist Lady Monarchs prevailed on a thrilling last-second shot. On Thursday, it was Doris Richards who provided the heroics with a buzzer-beater against Meredith. On Sunday, it was Lisa Jackson’s turn for the Lady Monarchs at Shenandoah. Jackson, a sophomore guard, drained a jump shot with three seconds left as the Lady Monarchs pulled off a 63-62 stunner over Shenandoah in a key USA South Athletic Conference showdown at Shingleton Gymnasium. The senior guard drained a 15-foot jump shot in traffic as time expired to give Methodist a thrilling come-from-behind 78-77 victory over in-state rival Meredith at the Riddle Center. The victory was the second straight for Methodist (8-7), and the fourth in its last five games. In addition, the Lady Monarchs have now won seven straight games against their regional non-conference rivals. release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The weekend off was good for the Methodist Lady Monarch women’s basketball as it came back refreshed and refocused on Monday night against longtime rival North Carolina Wesleyan. The result was arguably the best performance of the season as the Lady Monarchs routed the visiting Bishops 72-43 at the Riddle Center. The victory was the second straight for Methodist (7-7, 3-2) and its fourth in the last five games. Stacy Williams and Ashley Harris scored 12 points each for the Lady Monarchs. release

Another example of this fierce series was Thursday night as Peace, behind the play of standout forward Tia Saunders, proved too much for the visiting Lady Monarchs 62-53 at the Hermann Center. FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Ashley Harris made a triumphant return to the Methodist Lady Monarch lineup on Tuesday. In turn, the sophomore guard scored 20 points as the Lady Monarchs pulled off a 66-49 USA South Athletic Conference victory over visiting Averett at the Riddle Center. The victory improves the Lady Monarchs to 2-1 in the USA South and evens their overall record at 6-6. Harris, making her first start since the Lady Monarchs’ return from the holiday break, connected on an impressive 8-for-10 from the field and recorded four steals in the process. release

Freshman forward receives second weekly conference honor on the season
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – For the second time this season, Methodist’s Ann Forsberg was recognized as the USA South Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for women’s basketball. The freshman forward received the honor from the conference on Monday.
Forsberg, a 6-footer from Fayetteville, N.C., had two tremendous outings in Methodist’s first two USA South games of the 2005-06 season. release

Guard Courtney Bissette was selected as the USA South Player of the Week. FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The New Year started victorious for the Methodist Lady Monarch basketball team on Saturday as they rolled to an impressive 73-53 non-conference victory over visiting Bennett at the Riddle Center. The defeat ended a two-game losing skid for Methodist, which improves to 4-5 overall. The victory was the 135th for Methodist head coach DeeDee Jarman. Courtney Bissette had the hot hand for the Lady Monarchs. The sophomore wing tallied a career-high 19 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field. release

Lady Monarch freshman Ann Forsberg was selected as the USA South Rookie of the Week. Forsberg is the second Methodist player this season to earn Rookie of the Week honors in the USA South. However, host Bethany rallied for a 93-83 overtime victory over the Lady Monarchs on Saturday. The defeat drops Methodist to 3-4 overall on the season. Forsberg continued her impressive play for Methodist. The freshman forward scored 14 points to pace the Lady Monarchs on 6-for-6 shooting from 3-point range. She also had 13 rebounds for her first career double-double. release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist/InnKeeper Turkey Shootout has always produced some tension-packed thrillers in its five-year history. Saturday’s Methodist-LaGrange showdown was no different. However, Methodist came up on the short end of this “Classic” as the Lady Monarchs dropped a tough 88-86 defeat in double-overtime against LaGrange at the Riddle Center. The defeat drops Methodist to 2-2 overall. Ashley Harris paced Methodist with 21 points and five Lady Monarchs reached double-figures. release

GREENSBORO, N.C. - When they needed the big points on Tuesday night, the Methodist Lady Monarchs looked to two players - Antionett Holliday and Ashley Harris. In return, the duo delivered as the Lady Monarchs made it two straight victories with a 65-52 non-conference victory at Bennett. Holliday, a junior center, was dominant in the paint with a double-double. She scored 21 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds. Harris, a sophomore wing, meanwhile used some timely penetration for key lay-ups in the second half as she scored 20 points. release

EMORY, Va. – Following Friday’s high-octane defeat against Emory & Henry, the Methodist Lady Monarch women’s basketball slowed down the pace a little on Saturday with its first victory of the 2005-06 season. The Lady Monarchs knocked off Lynchburg 66-60 at the Emory & Henry Tip-Off Classic at the King Center. For the second straight game, Lisa Jackson was the catalyst for Methodist. After a 30-point, 11-rebound performance against Emory & Henry, the sophomore guard followed with 17 points and 10 rebounds for her second straight double-double. release

EMORY, Va. – The 2005-06 women’s basketball season opened with a bang (literally) for the Methodist Lady Monarchs on Friday. Playing at the Emory & Henry Tip-Off Classic, the Lady Monarchs dropped a 119-94 track meet to host Emory & Henry at the King Center. Individually, it was a banner night for Methodist sophomores Lisa Jackson and Ashley Harris as they both recorded career highs in both points and rebounds. Jackson recorded her first career double-double with a game-high 30 points and 11 rebounds, while Harris scored a career-high 25 points and equaled her career-high in rebounds with seven. release

Monarchs selected first, Lady Monarchs fourth in USA South preseason basketball polls
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist Monarch men’s basketball team was selected first and the Methodist Lady Monarch women’s basketball team was selected fourth in their respected preseason USA South Athletic Conference polls released on Wednesday. Head coach David Smith’s Monarchs were selected the preseason favorites in the men’s poll for the second straight season. They received six of the seven possible first place votes and 36 points total. Head coach DeeDee Jarman’s Lady Monarchs received 31 points total and one first place vote in the women's poll. release
