Oglethorpe Defeats Methodist Women 81-45
Junior Zan Messer led the team with 15 points

EMORY, VA - The Lady Monarchs tipped off the 2007-08 season on Friday night with a 81-45 loss to Oglethorpe University. Oglethorpe jumped out early to a 50-23 lead in the first half. The Lady Monarchs had a stronger second half only down by nine, but Oglethorpe prevailed with the win.

Junior Zan Messer led the team with 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting for the Monarchs. Senior Ashley Harris hit double figures with 10 points. Junior Dezzire Gilliard grabbed nine rebounds to lead the team on the boards.

The Lady Monarchs will face the tournament host, Emory & Henry on Saturday at 3 pm.
