Golf World Releases 2007-08 Preseason Rankings
Methodist women lead the pack while the men are ranked third

NEW YORK, NY-  Golf World magazine recently published their 2007-08 College Preview Issue with the results from the preseason Coaches' Polls. The Methodist men and women have historically dominated Division III golf and the rankings reflect their success.

After capturing their tenth consecutive national championship less than four months ago, the Monarch women are ranked first in the poll receiving 16 first place votes and 423 total votes. The 2007 runnerup DePauw is second with 398 points. The women begin the fall season in Williamsburg, Va. at the Colonial Women's Invitational Sept. 17-18.

The Methodist men were left dissatisfied with their performance in the 2007 national tournament, but were still ranked third in the preseason poll. Defending champion Saint John's (Minn.) is first with 17 first place votes and 507 votes while Oglethorpe received 456 points and the Monarchs earned 444 points with three first place votes. The men will tee off in the first tournament of the year at the Jack Shadwick Invitational in Seneca, S.C. Sept. 24-25.
