Charlotte Williams repeats as
Sykes Cup award winner
Junior two-time national champion is again recognized
as Methodist's elite student-athlete
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Methodist College
athletic department announced Monday the winner of the
prestigious Sykes Cup. In a landslide victory, the
coaches selected junior women's golfer Charlotte
Williams. Williams also won the Sykes Cup last
year.

Association today announced the 2005-06 student-athlete and
coaches awards for Division III Women's Collegiate Golf.

CLARKSVILLE, GA – The Methodist Lady Monarch
junior varsity women’s golf team stayed right where the
varsity squad left off yesterday- on top. The
Methodist B squad defeated Oglethorpe, Georgia
Southwestern, and Piedmont to win Tuesday's Orchard
Spring Collegiate Invitational at the par 72 5,803 yard
Orchard Golf and Country Club.

Lady Monarchs win High Point Spring Invitational
Katie Dick places second overall after falling in a
playoff
WALLBURG, NC – The Methodist Lady Monarch
women’s golf team put together a great team effort to win
the High Point Spring Invitational on Tuesday. The
Monarchs shot a 622 (313-309) to edge out the very
competitive field for their second tournament victory of

Lady Monarchs take fifth in the
William and Mary Invitational
Williams finishes fourth overall, shooting a 73 on
Sunday
WILLIAMSBURG, VA – The Methodist Lady Monarch
women’s golf team finished fifth in the William and Mary
Invitational this weekend at Ford's Colony in
Williamsburg, VA. Methodist shot a 640 after
shooting a 315 on Sunday. Sunday's score was the
second best only to the University of Toledo which won
the Invitational by twenty-six strokes. The
weather was partly cloudy, cool with periods of wind
that made it cold.

Lady Monarchs finish tied for seventh at
Peggy Kirk-Bell Invitational
Williams finishes tied for
fourth for Methodist, eight strokes off the lead
WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – The Methodist Lady Monarch
women’s golf team held a steady course on Tuesday and
finished seventh overall in the 31st annual Peggy
Kirk-Bell Invitational at the Tuscawilla Country Club.
Methodist shot a 322 on the Par-72, 6,089-yard course
and finished with a 963. Methodist finished four strokes
ahead of Western Washington and 14 strokes in front of
Nova Southeastern. Individually, Methodist’s Charlotte
Williams shot a final round score of 80 and finished
tied for fourth with Mariana De Biase from Rollins with
a 229.

two rounds at Peggy Kirk-Bell Invitational
Williams currently
third, five strokes off the lead for Methodist
WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – Playing its first
tournament of the 2006 season, the Methodist Lady
Monarch golf team is currently seventh after the first
two rounds of the 31st annual Peggy Kirk-Bell
Invitational on Monday at Tuscawilla Country Club. The
Lady Monarchs shot rounds of 320 and 321 to stand at 641
overall in the 13-team field. Individually for
Methodist, junior Charlotte Williams is currently third
overall with a 149. The defending NCAA Division III
individual national champion had rounds of 77 and 72 to
stand three strokes behind Rollins’ Marie-Pierre Bernier
and five strokes behind leader Samantha Richdale from
Illinois State.

Williams, Lady Monarchs win NCAA
Division III Preview by whopping 57 strokes
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. –
Opposition of the Methodist Lady Monarch women’s golf
team got an early glimpse of the Lady Monarchs’
potential this weekend at the NCAA Division III Preview.
Based on the result, spring could not get here sooner
for the Lady Monarchs. With four players finishing in
the top five amongst the individuals, Methodist ran away
with the 11-team field on Sunday. The Lady Monarchs shot
a 312 for the second round on Sunday and finished with a
645. That was 57 strokes ahead of second place finisher
Southwestern, which finished with a 702.

Martin, Lady Monarchs take 19-stroke
lead at NCAA Division III Preview
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. –
Getting an early feel for the course which will play
host to the 2006 NCAA Division III Women’s Golf National
Championship, the Methodist Lady Monarchs gave the
competition an early glimpse of what could happen in the
spring. Playing winds of almost 30 mph, Methodist jumped
out to a 19-stroke lead after the first round of the
NCAA Division III Preview on Saturday at Mission Inn/El
Campeon. The Lady Monarchs shot a 333 in the first round
to take a comfortable lead over Southwestern (352) in
the 11-team event. release

Lady Monarchs’ Dick finishes
tied for fifth at Taco Bell Intercollegiate
GREENVILLE, N.C. –
Picking up where she left off from last season’s stellar
freshman season, Methodist women’s golfer Katie Dick is
on the move again. Dick finished tied for fifth on
Sunday at the Taco Bell Intercollegiate at the Bradford
Creek Golf Club. She fired a three-round score of 217
(72-74-71) to finish in a tie with Jutta Degerman from
Winthrop and a stroke behind East Carolina’s Lene Krog
and Western Carolina’s Ashley Hovda. The performance
placed Dick, last season’s Division III Freshman of the
Year, on the All-Tournament Team.

Lady Monarchs place eighth at Unlimited
Potential/Bay Tree Classic
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. –
The Methodist Lady Monarch women’s golf team finished
eighth overall on Sunday at the Unlimited Potential/Bay
Tree Classic at Bay Tree Golf Club. The Lady Monarchs
shot a third round score of 308 to finish with a 931.
Methodist finished four strokes behind Texas-Pan
American, six strokes behind Western Michigan and nine
strokes off the pace of Ball State. Middle Tennessee
State held the lead for all three rounds and won the
tournament with a 901.

The Methodist Lady Monarch golf team improved three
places to seventh overall on Saturday after the second
round of the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic at the
Bay Tree Golf Club. The Lady Monarchs shot a second
round score of 305 to stand currently at 623 overall.
Methodist trails Texas-Pan American by one stroke and
Florida International by four strokes.

women’s golf season, the Methodist Lady Monarchs are
currently in 10th place after the first round on Friday
of the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic at Bay Tree
Golf Club. The Lady Monarchs shot a 318 in the first
round for the 16-team field. Individually, junior
Charlotte Williams shot an opening round 76 and is three
strokes off the overall lead.

Lady Monarchs open 2005 fall
season with eighth-place finish at Draper Valley
Intercollegiate
DRAPER, Va. – Fresh
off its 18th national championship in the last 20 years,
the Methodist Lady Monarch golf team opened the 2005
season this week with an eighth-place finish at the
Draper Valley Women’s Intercollegiate. The Lady Monarchs
shot rounds of 310 and 311 to finish with a 611 for the
two-day, 16-team field on Monday and Tuesday.
