May 15, 2008 WAVERLY, Iowa- With round three complete at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship, the Monarchs hold a 27 stroke lead over second place Southwestern. Methodist will look to win their 11th straight National Championship at Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa on Friday. Methodist sophomore Susan Martin took a two stroke lead over Stephanie Mingos of Rhodes College with a 221 (74-72-75). Senior Katie Dick shot a one under par to jump six spots into a tie for fourth at 226 (79-76-71). Freshman Paige Caldwell is tied for 17th at 235 (78-81-76) and freshman Gretchen McLean is tied for 28th at 239 (76-80-83). Junior Sara Dickson shot 249 (81-91-77) to tie for 64th. Head coach Vici Pate noticed her team is playing each round one match at a time. "We try not to look ahead or behind, and play the best round that we can. Those are our goals, which are not entirely lofty goals." The tournament will conclude tomorrow with live scoring available through the Tournament Website. |
