Lady Monarchs seventh after first two rounds at Peggy Kirk-Bell Invitational
Williams currently third, five strokes off the lead for Methodist

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – Playing its first tournament of the 2006 season, the Methodist Lady Monarch golf team is currently seventh after the first two rounds of the 31st annual Peggy Kirk-Bell Invitational on Monday at Tuscawilla Country Club. The Lady Monarchs shot rounds of 320 and 321 to stand at 641 overall.

Methodist, the eight-time defending NCAA Division III national champion, holds a 12-stroke lead over both Western Washington and Nova Southeastern and a 15-stroke lead over West Florida. The Lady Monarchs trail both Illinois State and Daytona Beach Community College by four strokes and Lynn by four strokes.

Individually for Methodist, junior Charlotte Williams is currently third overall with a 149. The defending NCAA Division III individual national champion had rounds of 77 and 72 to stand three strokes behind Rollins’ Marie-Pierre Bernier and five strokes behind leader Samantha Richdale from Illinois State.

In addition to Williams, Heather Martin is tied for 20th for Methodist with a 159 (80-79), while Katie is tied for 31st with a 164 (80-84). Other scores for the Lady Monarchs include Emily Ranney tied for 49th with a 169 (84-85) and Colleen Walsh is tied for 63rd with a 173 (84-89).

Three-time defending NCAA Division II national champion and host Rollins is in the lead with a 604 and a 24-stroke lead over Richmond.

The third and final round of the Peggy Kirk-Bell Invitational will be on Tuesday at Tuscawilla Country Club.
