Kelly, Kivett, and McGonagle Honored as USA South Athletes of the Week
Methodist athletes chosen for the first time this season

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- 
The USA South has announced their athletes of the week.  The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week.

Kurt Kelly, from Wilmington, North Carolina has been named the USA South Baseball Pitcher of the Week.  The Wilmington, North Carolina sophomore appeared in one game last week, picking up a victory in the Monarchs', 7-3, win over USA South rival N.C. Wesleyan. Kelly earned the win by pitching six and two-third innings while giving up two earned runs on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts. 

Seth Kivett has been named the USA South Baseball Rookie Player of the Week.  The freshman third baseman from Bear Creek, North Carolina hit .500 (5-for-10) with three RBI and one double in a 2-1 week for the Monarchs. In a 5-4 win over Capital, Kivett was 1-for-3 with one run scored and a walk. In a doubleheader split with N.C. Wesleyan, Kivett was 4-for-7 with three RBI and one double.  The Monarchs will host Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday at 6 pm.

Lauren McGonagle has been named the USA South Lacrosse Player of the Week.  The Burlington, Vermont senior midfielder led the Monarchs to an 18-10 victory over USA South foe Averett in the team's lone game last week. McGonagle led all players with nine points on seven goals and two assists. She also contributed ten ground balls, ten draw controls, four caused turnovers and finished 3-for-3 on free position shots.  Methodist is scheduled to play Misericordia on Monday at 7 pm in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
