Eight straight! Monarchs tie school record with
15-4 rout at Bridgewater
West scores six goals as Methodist improves
to 8-2 overall
BRIDGEWATER, Va. –
With every victory is a new milestone for the
Methodist Monarch lacrosse team, and Saturday
was no different at non-conference foe
Bridgewater. Thanks to a strong second half, the
Monarchs routed Bridgewater 15-4 for their
unprecedented eighth straight victory.
In addition, the victory improves Methodist to
8-2 overall under first year head coach Beth
Brundage. That ties the school record for
victories in a season, which was set by last
season’s squad.
Methodist clinged to a tight 3-1 lead at
halftime, but erupted in the second half with
five goals in the first six minutes to take an
8-1 lead. Senior Lindsey West paced the Monarchs
with six goals and four assists. She is now only
six goals shy of tying former teammate Emily
Neilsen’s Methodist career record of 168 goals.
Bridget Holcomb added three goals for the
Monarchs.
Methodist goes after a school-record ninth
victory on Tuesday, playing host to USA South
Athletic Conference newcomer North Carolina
Wesleyan at 4 p.m.
