Brundage hired as new Methodist women’s lacrosse head coach

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
Beth Brundage was officially hired on Friday as the new Methodist women’s lacrosse head coach, Methodist Athletic Director Bob McEvoy announced. Brundage takes over for Jill Penrose, who recorded a 15-15 mark in two seasons with a USA South Athletic Conference regular season championship in 2004 and a USA South Tournament runner-up finish last season.

“Coach Brundage will bring a wealth of playing and coaching experience to our women’s lacrosse program,” said McEvoy. “She inherits a first class group of student/athletes and we are all anxious to see her develop the program to the championship level.”

A native of Baltimore, Md., Brundage comes to Methodist after serving three seasons as a head coach at the high school at Blessed Trinity School in the Atlanta suburb of Roswell, Ga. In the first two seasons at the club level, Brundage led Blessed Trinity to the North Georgia Lacrosse League Championship, followed by a 9-9 campaign this past spring in the school’s first season of varsity competition at the GHSA (Georgia High School Association) level.

In addition, Brundage also the Southeast Regional Team in both 2004 and 2005 at the United States Lacrosse Women’s Division National Tournament.

As a player, Brundage was a collegiate standout at NCAA Division I Maryland-Baltimore County from 1999-2002. Playing under head coach Monica Yeakel, Brundage helped lead the Retrievers to three Northeast Conference championships and the program’s first NCAA Division I National Tournament bid as a senior in 1992. Brundage was a two-time All-Conference selection as a defender and an Academic All-American selection by U.S. Lacrosse as a senior.

In Brundage’s four seasons at Maryland-Baltimore County, the Retrievers posted a 44-25 overall record and an impressive 22-1 mark in the Northeast Conference.

Brundage is married to Lieutenant Matthew Brundage, who is stationed at nearby Fort Bragg.
