Brundage hired as new Methodist women’s lacrosse
head coach
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
Beth Brundage
was officially hired on Friday as the new
Methodist women’s lacrosse head coach, Methodist
Athletic Director Bob McEvoy announced. Brundage
takes over for Jill Penrose, who recorded a
15-15 mark in two seasons with a USA South
Athletic Conference regular season championship
in 2004 and a USA South Tournament runner-up
finish last season.
“Coach Brundage will bring a wealth of playing
and coaching experience to our women’s lacrosse
program,” said McEvoy. “She inherits a first
class group of student/athletes and we are all
anxious to see her develop the program to the
championship level.”
A native of Baltimore, Md., Brundage comes to
Methodist after serving three seasons as a head
coach at the high school at Blessed Trinity
School in the Atlanta suburb of Roswell, Ga. In
the first two seasons at the club level,
Brundage led Blessed Trinity to the North
Georgia Lacrosse League Championship, followed
by a 9-9 campaign this past spring in the
school’s first season of varsity competition at
the GHSA (Georgia High School Association)
level.
In addition, Brundage also the Southeast
Regional Team in both 2004 and 2005 at the
United States Lacrosse Women’s Division National
Tournament.
As a player, Brundage was a collegiate standout
at NCAA Division I Maryland-Baltimore County
from 1999-2002. Playing under head coach Monica
Yeakel, Brundage helped lead the Retrievers to
three Northeast Conference championships and the
program’s first NCAA Division I National
Tournament bid as a senior in 1992. Brundage was
a two-time All-Conference selection as a
defender and an Academic All-American selection
by U.S. Lacrosse as a senior.
In Brundage’s four seasons at Maryland-Baltimore
County, the Retrievers posted a 44-25 overall
record and an impressive 22-1 mark in the
Northeast Conference.
Brundage is married to Lieutenant Matthew
Brundage, who is stationed at nearby Fort Bragg.
