Monarchs Fall to Christopher Newport
Seniors Lauren McGonagle and Kim Collier honored in their last regular season home game

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- Christopher Newport remains undefeated in the USA South Athletic Conference with a 16-4 victory over the Methodist Monarchs.  The Captains took an early lead and stayed strong for the win.  Methodist moves to 4-9 on the season and 3-2 in the USA South while Christopher Newport is 8-4 overall and 6-0 in the conference.

Sophomore Andrea DiStefano scored first for the Monarchs with a crease roll ten minutes into the game.  The Captains stifled the Methodist offense for the remainder of the half to take an 11-1 lead at halftime.  In the second half, junior Christina Layson scored two goals and junior Bridget Holcomb scored one to close the gap during the final minutes.  Christopher Newport prevailed with the 16-4 win.

Freshman Lindsey Cosgray made nine saves for the Monarchs while Theresa Sparks and Gayle Robinson split time for the Captains combining for four saves.

The Monarchs will play their final regular season Monday at Shenandoah at 4 pm.
