Winning Streak
Snapped- Methodist falls at CNU
West and
Holcomb net three goals a piece
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
The Methodist Monarch lacrosse team had its
winning streak snapped Saturday at Christopher
Newport 13-9. The Monarchs had won a
program best nine straight. The loss makes
Methodist 9-3 overall and 3-2 in the USA South.
Christopher Newport scored the games first three
goals and held Methodist scoreless until the
13:56 mark when Bridget Holcomb netted her first
of three goals. Methodist came within one
goal on Lauren McGonagle's goal late in the
first half. However, CNU responded with
the next four goals and would lead the entire
contest.
Lindsey West and Bridget Holcomb each scored
three times for the Monarchs. CNU was led
by Kristen Conques who scored five times and
Kristen Hankins who scored four goals.
The Monarchs actually out-shot the Captains
28-22 but CNU won the ground battle 38-23 and
kept the Monarchs playing from behind.
Methodist next game is Friday, March 31st at
home versus Presbyterian at 4 pm.
