Four
straight! Monarchs finish Florida trip with 18-7
rout over Gordon
Record-setting game for West with six goals,
six assists
WELLINGTON, Fla. –
After starting the 2006 season on a tough edge,
the Methodist Monarch lacrosse team is now on a
roll. On Wednesday, the Monarchs wrapped up a
successful week in Florida with a convincing
18-7 victory over Gordon. Methodist, which has
now won four straight games, improves to 4-2
overall.
Senior Lindsey West had a record-setting game
for the Monarchs with a whopping six goals and
six assists. She set the Methodist single-game
record for assists with six and tied the
Methodist single-game mark for points with 12.
West was key in the first half for Methodist as
the Monarchs scored 10 of the first 11 goals,
including seven straight at point. That gave the
Monarchs a convincing 10-3 lead at halftime.
In addition to West, Lauren McGonagle scored
four goals with one assist for Methodist, while
Kali Rodriguez scored two goals with one assist
and Bridget Holcomb and Katelyn Cushman each
scored two goals.
Methodist is at home for a pair of games this
weekend. The Monarchs play host to USA South
Athletic Conference rival Ferrum on Saturday at
1 p.m., followed by the College of Notre Dame on
Sunday at 2 p.m.
