Monarchs Fall to Greensboro in Tournament Semifinals
Senior Lauren McGonagle leads Methodist with three goals and an assist

BURLINGTON, N.C.— Jennifer Donah netted seven goals for the game, including four in the opening half, guiding the way to a Greensboro College 20-5 victory over Methodist University.

The win earns a spot for The Pride in the 2007 USA South women’s lacrosse Championship against Christopher Newport, marking the fifth time the two teams have meet in the finals since 2001.

Leading 10-2 at the break, Monika Hulcher scored ten seconds into the second half, as GC (10-5) would record the next five goals of the game. Donah would score two goals in this span, which upped the GC lead to 15-2 with 18:00 remaining. Lauren McGonagle responded with back-to-back goals for Methodist (6-10), including a free position shot, a period in which she knotched three goals.

Over the final 9:44 of action The Pride would get five goals, all from different offensive sources, including Christie Hebert, Christina Denney, Caroline Young, Megan Barbieri and Donah.

Kristen McGuire (10-5) finished with eight saves in goal for GC, while Lindsey Cosgray (5-10) and Andrea DiStefano both appeared in net for Methodist stopping a combined 16 shots.

GC’s Jenna Gast opened scoring with a free position goal at the 24:10 mark, only to have the game knotted up just under two minutes later on a goal by the Monarchs Adama Abramson.

The Pride rattled off nine consecutive goals, with the first coming at the 14:00 mark with a Christie Hebert score. Over that span, GC was led by four off the stick of Jennifer Donah and two by Hebert, assuming a 10-1 lead with 1:50 remaining.

Methodist added its final goal of the first half with a score by Bridget Holcomb with 00:23 second remaining for the 10-2 halftime score.
