Guilford Defeats Monarchs 16-5
Junior Christina Layson scores two goals with an assist

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Guilford Quakers came out and took advantage early to take a 6-1 lead in the first twelve minutes of the game.  Guilford went on to win 16-5 over the Monarchs.  Methodist moves to 4-8 on the season while Guilford is 4-5 overall.

Junior Bridget Holcomb scored the first goal for Methodist after cutting through the eight meter to receive a pass from junior Christina Layson.  Guilford scored the next five goals before senior Lauren McGonagle scored on a free position shot.  The Quakers took a 9-2 lead at halftime and scored the first two goals of the second half.  Holcomb scored her second goal of the game on an assist from McGonagle.  Layson scored the final two goals for Methodist on a free position and a feed from Holcomb.

Freshman Lindsey Cosgray made 12 saves for the Monarchs while Alyzza-May Callahan had 9 stops for the Quakers.

The Monarchs will play their final regular season home game on Saturday against the Captains at 1 pm.
