The Methodist University women's lacrosse team became the school's 19th intercollegiate sport (10th for women) in the spring of 2002.  The Methodist lacrosse program is the southern-most NCAA Division III women's program in the country.

This past season first year head coach Wylie Crisanti blended a nucleus of returning players along with nine newcomers.  The team finished third place in the conference with a record of 4-2, making it to the semi-finals of the conference tournament.

In 2006 the Monarchs set a school record for victories, finishing 11-4.  They finished second in the nation in scoring, averaging over 16 goals per game.
