USA South Tournament Wrap-Up
Men's golf and women's tennis win Tournament Championships
BURLINGTON, N.C.-
The USA South Athletic Conference held their annual Spring Sports Festival
in Burlington, N.C. April 17-20 with Methodist sending six teams to
compete. Men's golf and women's tennis took top honors with Tournament
Championships on Sunday. release

Awards
Seniors Chrystal Bradley and
Christina Layson earn First Team honors
FAYETTEVILLE, NC — The USA
South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for
lacrosse. A total of 25 student-athletes have been named to the teams.
The Monarchs received two First Team honors with three student athletes
named Honorable Mention selections. release

NEWPORT NEWS, VA— Christopher
Newport scored the first goal of the game and cruised to a 12-2 lead
at halftime before finishing with the 20-4 win. Methodist drops to 3-10
overall and 2-2 in the USA South while Christopher Newport is 8-5 overall
and 3-0 in the conference. release

CHARLOTTE, NC— The Monarchs
held an early lead in the first half and tied the game on two different
occasions in the second half, but Lees-McRae held on for the 24-18 win.
Methodist drops to 3-9 overall while Lees-McRae is 1-11 this season.

scored the first goal of the game, but Sweet Briar used a four goal
rally late in the first half to hold on for the 14-11 win. Methodist
drops to 3-8 overall while Sweet Briar stands at 3-4 this season. release

GREENSBORO, NC— Guilford jumped
out to an 11-0 halftime lead before going on to win 17-4 Wednesday evening.
Methodist drops to 3-7 overall while Guilford won their fourth straight
to improve to 4-3 this season. release

and 2-1 in the USA South while Ferrum moves to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in

and Wesley battled steady rain to a tied game at halftime. Wesley used
a four goal run in the second half to take the 16-12 win. Methodist
moves to 2-4 on the season while Wesley improves to 2-1 overall. release

HILTON HEAD, SC— The Methodist
lacrosse team battled the weather on Tuesday to face Wilkes University.
The Colonels used a late five goal run in the first half to win 14-10.
The Monarchs move to 2-3 on the season while Wilkes stands at 1-1 overall.

to a 20-7 win at the Savannah College of Art & Design. The Monarchs

LYNCHBURG, VA — The Monarchs
were forced to play three players down and couldn't keep up with the
Lynchburg offense as the Hornets outscored Methodist 16-4 on Saturday.
The Monarchs move to 1-2 on the season while Lynchburg is 2-0 overall.

opened their USA South Conference play with a 19-3 win over Shenandoah.
Shenandoah tied the game at one early, but the Monarchs took over for
thir first victory of the season. Methodist moves to 1-1 overall and
1-0 in the USA South while Shenandoah starts their season 0-1. release

Weekend Schedule Changes
Lacrosse and tennis postponed due to weather
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-
Some of the Methodist University athletic events have been postponed
this weekend due to some weather concerns. The lacrosse game scheduled
for Saturday against Shenandoah has been moved to Sunday at 1 pm. Both
tennis matches against Maryville set for Saturday have been postponed
with hopes to reschedule later this season. release

Methodist Opens With 16-5

LAURINBURG, N.C.— The Methodist
women's lacrosse team opened the 2008 season at NCAA Division II St.
Andrews. St. Andrews took the lead early and went on to win 16-5 over
the Monarchs. Methodist starts the season 0-1 while St. Andrews moves
to 2-1 this season. release

USA South Announces Preseason Polls
Golf, lacrosse, softball, and tennis released today
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South Conference
office released the preseason polls today for the remaining spring sports.
Baseball was released earlier this month. The polls are based
on votes from each conference member's head coach without voting for
themselves. release
