Wylie Crisanti selected to lead Monarch lacrosse program
Former Division I head coach takes over a team that finished 11-4 in 2006
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  St. Francis University head women's lacrosse coach Wylie Crisanti has accepted the same position at Methodist College, Athletics Director Bob McEvoy announced Thursday.  He takes over for Beth Brundage, who led the Monarchs to an 11-4 finish in her one season at the helm of the Monarch lacrosse program. release

USA South Player of the Year had 89 points on the season
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  Methodist senior midfielder Lindsey West continued her impressive postseason adding one more honor this week.  West, the USA South Conference's Player of the Year, was named first team All-Chesapeake Region. release

Twelve Methodist athletes named to all-tournament teams
Jessica Hutzul named softball MVP; Adam Horton men's golf medalist

BURLINGTON, NC-  Twelve Methodist athletes earned recognition on USA South All-Tournament teams this past weekend at the Spring Sports Festival in Burlington, NC.  Adam Horton led his golf team to the Conference title shooting a 145 winning the medalist honors.  Pitcher Jessica Hutzul led the 38-6 Monarchs to the Tournament championship and was named the Most Valuable Player. release

Methodist competes for six tournament championships in first ever Spring Sports Festival
Softball and Men's Golf teams win titles; Tennis teams fall in finals

BURLINGTON, NC- Methodist College entered the first ever USA South Spring Sports festival this past weekend in Burlington, North Carolina with the high hopes of going six for six.  That is, winning conference tournament championships in all six spring sports- baseball, softball, lacrosse, men's golf, and men's and women's tennis- offered by the USA South

11-3 Monarchs put seven on All-Conference team
West named Player of the Year; McGrath and McGonagle also named to the first team
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its
All-Conference awards for lacrosse.  Seven Monarchs were recognized with conference honors.  Methodist College's Lindsey West has been named the Player of the Year.  In addition, Lauren McGonagle, and Bridgette McGrath were all named to the first team.  Second team members include Bridget Holcomb, Katelyn Cushman, and Jenna Nobles.  Kali Rodriguez received honorable mention recognition.  release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist women’s lacrosse ended their impressive regular season in typical fashion- lots of goals, and another win.  The Monarchs defeated visiting Shenandoah University 18-4 to finish at 11-3 and 4-2 in USA South play. release

Methodist routs Presbyterian College 24-6
McGonagle and Rodriguez score six goals each
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Monarchs handed the Presbyterian College women’s lacrosse team a 24-6 defeat on Friday afternoon as five different players for Methodist notched three or more goals. The Monarchs improved to 10-3 overall, while PC remains winless at 0-11. release

Winning Streak Snapped- Methodist falls at CNU
West and Holcomb net three goals a piece
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist Monarch lacrosse team had its winning streak snapped Saturday at Christopher Newport 13-9.  The Monarchs had won a program best nine straight.  The loss makes Methodist 9-3 overall and 3-2 in the USA South. release

West ties school career record for goals as Methodist whips North Carolina Wesleyan
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist Monarch lacrosse team reached more new heights on Tuesday as the Monarchs routed rival North Carolina Wesleyan 21-4 in a USA South Athletic Conference matchup at Monarch Stadium. The triumph set a school record for victories in a season for the Monarchs as Methodist improved to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the USA South. After opening the season with two one-goal defeats, Methodist has now won nine straight games heading into Saturday’s big showdown at Christopher Newport. release

West scores six goals as Methodist improves to 8-2 overall
BRIDGEWATER, Va. – With every victory is a new milestone for the Methodist Monarch lacrosse team, and Saturday was no different at non-conference foe Bridgewater. Thanks to a strong second half, the Monarchs routed Bridgewater 15-4 for their unprecedented eighth straight victory. In addition, the victory improves Methodist to 8-2 overall under first year head coach Beth Brundage. That ties the school record for victories in a season, which was set by last season’s squad. release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The two-game losing skid at the start of the 2006 season is now a distant memory for the Methodist Monarch lacrosse team. On Thursday, the Monarchs added to their school record for consecutive victories with an impressive 18-2 USA South Athletic Conference victory over visiting Ferrum at Monarch Stadium. Methodist, which improves to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the USA South, has now won an unprecedented seven straight games. Methodist improves to 5-2 overall as Cushman scores six goals
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The winning streak reached five straight for the Methodist Monarch lacrosse team on Sunday as it used a strong second half to pull away from visiting College of Notre Dame 18-13 at Monarch Stadium. The victory improves Methodist to 5-2 overall, and the five-game winning streak is the best in program history. Katelyn Cushman scored a career-high six goals to pace Methodist. release

Record-setting game for West with six goals, six assists
WELLINGTON, Fla. – After starting the 2006 season on a tough edge, the Methodist Monarch lacrosse team is now on a roll. On Wednesday, the Monarchs wrapped up a successful week in Florida with a convincing 18-7 victory over Gordon. Methodist, which has now won four straight games, improves to 4-2 overall. Senior Lindsey West had a record-setting game for the Monarchs with a whopping six goals and six assists. She set the Methodist single-game record for assists with six and tied the Methodist single-game mark for points with 12. release

McGonagle scores three goals with five assists as Methodist evens up at 2-2
DANVILLE, Va. – In the past four seasons, Averett was always almost a guaranteed “W” on the schedule for the Methodist Monarch lacrosse team. However, that wasn’t the case on Saturday as the Monarchs fought off an improved Cougar squad 13-8 at Averett. The victory was the second straight for Methodist, which improved to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the USA South. Lauren McGonagle paced Methodist with three goals and five assists. release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – After two straight one-goal defeats to open the 2006 lacrosse season, the Methodist Monarchs weren’t going let Wednesday’s game against visiting York get away from them, and they didn’t. The Monarchs gave new head coach Beth Brundage her first collegiate victory with an 18-6 victory at Monarch Stadium. Methodist improves to 1-2 overall on the season. McGonagle scores six goals as Monarchs fall to 0-2
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Defeat was snatched out of the jaws of victory on Saturday for the Methodist Monarch lacrosse team as visiting Belmont Abbey scored four late goals and came away with a 16-15 victory over Methodist at Monarch Stadium. The defeat, the second straight one-goal defeat for the Monarchs, drops Methodist to 0-2 on the season. Lauren McGonagle scored six goals to pace the Monarchs. release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist Monarch lacrosse team opened the 2006 season on Wednesday, and took one on the chin with a 14-13 defeat against rival Greensboro in USA South Athletic Conference action. The defeat spoiled the debut of new Methodist head coach Beth Brundage. Senior midfielder Lindsey West scored a game-high seven goals for Methodist. release

Methodist picked fourth in preseason USA South women’s lacrosse poll
Methodist opens Brundage era with Feb. 22 showdown against rival Greensboro
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The USA South Athletic Conference released its 2006 preseason poll for women’s lacrosse on Wednesday, and the Methodist Monarchs were selected fourth in the seven-team race. Methodist received 21 votes for its fourth-place pick. The Monarchs open the 2006 season with new head coach Beth Brundage's debut on Feb. 22 at home against rival Greensboro. release

Brundage hired as new Methodist women’s lacrosse head coach
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Beth Brundage was officially hired on Friday as the new Methodist women’s lacrosse head coach, Methodist Athletic Director Bob McEvoy announced. Brundage takes over for Jill Penrose, who recorded a 15-15 mark in two seasons with a USA South Athletic Conference regular season championship in 2004 and a USA South Tournament runner-up finish last season. release
