March 21, 2007 ROCKY MOUNT, NC- The Monarchs and Bishops were tied 9-9 at halftime and the Monarchs were down by two in the second half, but with plenty of lead changes and ties, Methodist prevailed 16-15 over North Carolina Wesleyan. Methodist moves to 4-6 overall and 3-1 in the USA South while NC Wesleyan falls to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the conference. Senior Lauren McGonagle led the Monarchs with six goals and now holds the record for career goals scored with 187. Sophomore Andrea DiStefano had five goals while juniors Christina Layson and Bridget Holcomb added two goals a piece. Freshman Jessica Lutzow also scored for Methodist. Freshman Lindsey Cosgray made seven saves for Methodist while the Bishops keeper Cary Trump made 16 stops. The Monarchs will travel to Presbyterian on Sunday to play at 2 pm.
