Methodist Trounces SCAD 20-7
Senior Chrystal Bradley tallies four goals and three assists

SAVANNAH, GA — Methodist scored the first five goals of the game and never looked back as they cruised to a 20-7 win at the Savannah College of Art & Design. The Monarchs move to 2-2 on the season while SCAD stands at 2-4 overall.

Senior Chrystal Bradley opened the scoring for the Monarchs with a goal on a free position shot for the 1-0 Methodist lead. Senior Christina Layson followed up with the second goal before junior Andrea DiStefano tallied the third score of the game. Junior Diane Doroftei scored on a free position goal and Bradley scored her second goal on the assist from DiStefano for the 5-0 lead. SCAD responded with three consecutive goals, but DiStefano halted the run with a goal. SCAD snuck another goal in to cut the lead back to two, but Layson scored four consecutive goals to give Methodist a 10-4 lead. DiStefano picked up two more assists during the run. Bradley scored again on Layson's assist and DiStefano scored a goal after the pass from Bradley. SCAD added another goal before halftime, but Methodist held the 12-5 advantage at the break.

Layson started the second half with a goal on the assist from Doroftei and Bradley scored her fourth goal on the assist from DiStefano. SCAD broke up the scoring with a goal, but Layson scored her seventh goal of the game, one shy of the Methodist record, to give Methodist a 15-6 lead. Junior Ann Ferrara scored for the Monarchs for DiStefano added a goal with the assist from Bradley. SCAD would score once more, but Methodist finished the game with the final three goals. DiStefano scored her fifth on an assist from Layson before freshman Amber Jurkovac scored her first collegiate goal on a free position shot. Ferrara capped off the scoring on the assist from Bradley for the 20-7 win.

Methodist will face Wilkes on Tuesday at 4 pm in Hilton Head, S.C.
