Methodist Women's Soccer Preview
First year coach Tony Tommasi looks to start fresh

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  When Tony Tommasi arrived at Methodist College, he wasn't sure what kind of team he would have.  Over the past two weeks, he has worked to create his own program with a team full of potential.

Junior Chrystal Bradley returns as the team's leading scorer for the past two years.  In 2004 she was named Rookie of the Year for the USA South Conference and last year was named to the first team.  Tommasi is looking to push her to keep creating chances that allow her to finish.  Joining Bradley up top, freshman Michelle Anderson has shown she has the athleticism to make an impact.

With seven freshmen on the roster, Tommasi is going to need some contributions from the newcomers.  Erica Nath and Ashley Kolano are adapting to the system and looking to step up to compete.

Sophomores Amanda Evans and Erin Swanson have made the goalkeeper position very competitive.  They are pushing each other to gain time and be the last defender for the Monarchs.

Senior Jamie Oakes and junior Teresa Futrell will captain the team as Tommasi will rely on their leadership both on and off the field.  The team was selected selected in a tie for second in the USA South preseason poll, but knows the predictions were based primarily on last year's results.  Tommasi is anxious to start the season and Saturday will be here soon enough.

The women's soccer team hosts the Innkeeper Invitational this weekend kicking off with Hollins at 2 pm on Saturday before facing Cabrini at 1 on Sunday.
