December 18, 2007 MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.- Three women's soccer players have been selected to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association All-State College Division team. Eleven student-athletes, representing seven institutions make up the team with the Monarchs' three players the most from any team. Chrystal Bradley, Kelly Orpin and Whitney Roberson have been selected from Methodist. The Monarchs finished the season 17-5 earning their second consecutive USA South regular season championship and first tournament title in program history. After finishing undefeated in the USA South, the Monarchs won the tournament to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Methodist senior midfielder Chrystal Bradley from Fairfax, Va. was the only unanimous selection by the NCCSIA. Bradley led the team in points (43) after scoring 16 goals with 11 assists and earned First Team All-Conference honors for the fourth time in her career. Bradley is a two-time NCCSIA selection along with sophomore forward Whitney Roberson from Kitty Hawk, N.C. Roberson tied for the team lead in goals with 17 to go along with six assists for 40 points. Roberson earned her second USA South First Team honor as well. Joining Bradley and Roberson is freshman defender Kelly Orpin from Fredericksburg, Va. Orpin anchored a Methodist defense that allowed just 15 goals in 22 games including just one goal in USA South play. Orpin also notched two assists from the back line on the way to USA South First Team honors. The All-State team consists of students from NCAA Division II and Division III colleges and universities throughout the state. North Carolina sports information professionals submitted nominees and NCCSIA members selected the teams. The all-state unit consists of one goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders and three forwards. Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from North Carolina’s NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions for the purpose of promoting college athletics in the state. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina whose responsibilities include sports information. NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the university (NCAA Division I) and college (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball.
