Three straight! Bradley scores twice as Lady Monarchs blank Chowan 4-0

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
The timing could not be better for the Methodist Lady Monarch women’s soccer team to pick up some steam as the 2005 season winds down.

Paced by two goals by sophomore forward Chrystal Bradley, the Lady Monarchs made it three straight victories on Tuesday with a 4-0 shutout over Chowan at Monarch Soccerplex. In addition, it was also the second straight shutout for Methodist, which improves to 6-9-1 overall.

Methodist scored twice in both the first half and second half, and the two goals each half were scored less than a minute apart.

The Lady Monarchs took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute as Ashley Sloan scored on a lob shot from 25 yards out on the left side of penalty box. Twenty-one seconds later, Bradley scored her first goal at the top of the penalty box off an assist from Janie Trovato.

In the second half, Bradley gave the Lady Monarchs 3-0 lead in the 61st minute with a 13-yard swing kick off a cross pass from Sloan. Forty seconds later, Marie Finley drilled a 35-yard shot from beyond the penalty box.

Methodist freshman goalkeeper Amanda Evans recorded the shutout with four saves.

The Lady Monarchs play their final regular season home game on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Ferrum.
