Methodist Wins 2-0 Over USA South Rival Christopher Newport
Sophomore Whitney Roberson scores both goals

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Monarchs were coming off of two straight losses, but remained undefeated in the USA South Conference with a 2-0 win over Christopher Newport on Saturday. The Monarchs improve to 12-4 overall this season and 7-0 in the USA South while Christopher Newport drops to 9-6 overall and 6-1 in the conference.

Methodist held a 7-4 shot advantage in the first half, but couldn't get on the board until the 32nd minute when senior Chrystal Bradley fed sophomore Whitney Roberson off on a breakaway for the first goal of the game. Christopher Newport had more opportunities in the second half, but Roberson struck again with less than five minutes to go in the game with another breakaway opportunity.

Methodist goalkeeper Kasey Nichols made six saves for the Monarchs while Christopher Newport goalkeeper Erin Wojtkun also had six stops.

Prior to the game, four Methodist seniors, Brenda Chambers, Christina Layson, Chrystal Bradley and Marie Finley were honored for outstanding careers as Monarchs. They will play their final regular season home game on Wednesday at 3 pm against Greensboro College.
