Monarchs Battle to 1-0 Win Over Ferrum
Freshman Hevyn Diers earns the assist on the only goal

FERRUM, VA-  The Methodist women's soccer team was back on the road Saturday with a conference game against Ferrum College. Out shooting the Panthers 30-4, the Monarchs prevailed in a 1-0 win. Methodist moves to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference while Ferrum falls to 2-5-1 overall and 1-1 in the USA South.

Methodist maintained the majority of the possession throughout the game, but didn't get on the scoreboard until just before halftime. Freshman Hevyn Diers broke down the flank to beat the defense and put a shot on goal where freshman Faye Charles was there for the ricochet to finish the goal. The Monarchs' defense held on for the shutout with freshman Kasey Nichols grabbing a save in goal.

Ferrum goalkeeper Katie Hodkinson made 16 saves in the game.

Methodist will face Bridgewater on Sunday at 2 pm.
