in USA

Tournament
with 2-0
shutout
over
Ferrum

The
Methodist
Lady
Monarch
women’s
soccer
team
took its
first
step
towards
its
first
ever USA
South
Athletic
Conference
Tournament
on
Tuesday
with a
2-0
shutout
over
visiting
Ferrum
at
Monarch
Soccerplex.
This
marks
the
sixth
straight
season
that
Methodist
has
advanced
to the
semifinals
of the
USA
South
Tournament.
Methodist
improves
to
8-10-1
overall
with the
victory.
The
Monarchs
have won
five of
their
last six
games.
Sophomore
forward
Chrystal
Bradley
accounted
for both
Lady
Monarch
goals.
She
scored
the
first in
the 22nd
minute
from 10
yards to
the left
of the
goal.
Sarah
Christie
recorded
the
assist
on the
play.
The duo
of
Christie
and
Bradley
hooked
up again
in the
second
half.
Bradley
took a
breakaway
pass
from
Christie
in the
74th
minute,
put a
move on
Panther
goalkeeper
Elizabeth
Haines
and
hammered
home the
goal.
The
Methodist
defensive
backline
of
Stacey
Noonan,
Teresa
Futrell,
Elyse
Myers
and
Marie
Finley
limited
Ferrum
(7-10-1)
to only
one
shot.
Lady
Monarch
goalkeeper
Amanda
Evans
recorded
her
fifth
save of
the
season.
Methodist
plays
Greensboro
on
Friday
at 5
p.m. in
the USA
South
semifinals
at
Christopher
Newport.
