Monarchs Come From Behind to Top Greensboro 2-1
Senior Chrystal Bradley scores game-tying goal

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  Greensboro struck first, but the Methodist women's soccer team scored two in the final twenty minutes to win 2-1. The Monarchs improve to 13-4 overall this season and 8-0 in the USA South while Greensboro drops to 12-3-1 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

The first half passed scoreless with the Monarchs out shooting Greensboro 8-4. Greensboro's Ashley Cabral had an opportunity early, but Methodist freshman goalkeeper Kasey Nichols made the save. Later in the half, sophomore Whitney Roberson drew the foul right outside the eighteen yard box, but senior Chrystal Bradley's free kick bounced off the crossbar.

Cabral was the first to score when she broke through the Methodist defense to hit the upper left corner for the 1-0 lead in the 62nd minute of play. Eleven minutes later, Bradley took on the Greensboro defense at the top of the eighteen to chip the Pride goalkeeper Katie Allegro. With just over ten minutes to play, freshman Hevyn Diers found freshman Kate Ramsay on the left flank who just saved the ball from going out the endline and crossed it in for sophomore Whitney Roberson to score near post on her first touch. Methodist would hold on for the 2-1 win.

Nichols finished with four saves for Methodist while Allegro had five stops in goal for Greensboro.

The Monarchs will complete the regular season on Saturday against Meredith at SAS Soccer Park in Cary at 2 pm.
