drop

After
opening
the 2005
women’s
soccer
season
with two
straight
victories,
the
Methodist
Lady
Monarchs
have hit
a buzz
saw in
its last
two
games.
On
Wednesday,
Methodist
dropped
its
second
straight
game on
the
season,
3-0
against
in-state
rival
Guilford
at
Monarch
Soccerplex.
Methodist
is now
an even
2-2 on
the
season.
The
Quakers
controlled
the
game,
offensively
and
defensively.
Guilford
limited
the Lady
Monarchs
to six
shots.
Meanwhile,
Guilford
took a
1-0 lead
in the
13th
minute
on a
goal by
Micki
Boulineau
off a
deflection
by Lady
Monarch
goalkeeper
Amanda
Evans.
The
score
stayed
1-0 at
halftime.
In the
second
half,
Guilford
put the
game
away
with two
goals
within a
six-minute
span.
The
Quakers
took a
2-0 lead
in the
55th
minute
on a
goal by
Jennah
Carter.
Six
minutes
later,
Guilford
made it
3-0 on a
breakaway
goal
Heather
Ruggiero.
Emily
Ott
recorded
assists
on both
Quaker
goals.
Evans
recorded
seven
saves
for
Methodist.
The Lady
Monarchs
travel
to
Tennessee
this
weekend
for the
Sewanee
Classic.
Methodist
plays
against
Mississippi
College
on
Saturday
at 1
p.m.,
followed
by
Texas-Dallas
on
Sunday
at 1
p.m.
