Methodist Women's Soccer Starts Practice
Team looks to three-peat as USA South Champions

NC- The Methodist University women's
soccer team came together on the field for
the first time on Thursday. With the first
tournament scheduled at Emory University Aug.
29-30, the Monarchs will take the next two
weeks to prepare. release

Field Renovations Underway
A new state-of-the-art sprinkler system is
being installed this week
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Thanks to a generous donation
to the soccer program, a number of updates
will begin to take place at the Monarch Soccerplex
over the next few weeks beginning with the
state-of-the-art sprinkler system. The Monarchs
will also look to add canopies over the bleachers
and team benches while improving the player
lounge in the soccer offices overlooking the

Three Monarchs Headline All-State Team
Methodist women's soccer players recognized
by NCCSIA
MOUNT
OLIVE, N.C.- Three women's soccer players
have been selected to the North Carolina Collegiate
Sports Information Association All-State College
Division team. Eleven student-athletes, representing
seven institutions make up the team with the
Monarchs' three players the most from any
team. Chrystal Bradley, Kelly Orpin and Whitney
Roberson have been selected from Methodist.

FAYETTEVILLE,
NC- It was a tale of two halves as the
Monarchs fell behind 2-0 to Roanoke Saturday
evening before the Monarchs came back in the
second half with a goal. Their comeback fell
short as Roanoke went on to win 3-1. Methodist
finishes the season at 17-5, while Roanoke
will advance to face Lynchburg on Sunday with
a 17-3-1 record. release

Soccer Tournament Bracket information Monday
morning with 60 teams receiving bids to the
tournament. The Methodist Monarchs (17-4)
received an automatic bid to the tournament
after winning the USA South Athletic Conference

Monarchs sought revenge for a loss in the
finals last year with a 1-0 win over Christopher
Newport. The win gives Methodist an automatic
bid to the 2007 NCAA Division III Tournament.

less than a week ago, the Methodist Monarchs
decided to make a statement in Friday's semifinal
with a 5-0 win. With the victory, Methodist
will play Christopher Newport in the championship
on Saturday at 2 pm in a repeat of last year's
final. Methodist improves to 16-4 overall
this season while Meredith finishes at 10-8

the Monarchs will host the semifinals and
finals this weekend for the second consecutive

Women's Soccer Prepares for 2007 Season
Ten newcomers join nine returners in hopes
of defending conference championship
FAYETTEVILLE,
NC- Methodist head coach Tony Tommasi
arrived in Fayetteville just a little over
a year ago without having met a single player.
Tommasi went on to lead the team to a 2006
USA South Athletic Conference Championship
and a NCAA Tournament bid. By the end of the
season, the Monarchs ranked fifth in Division
III for the most improved record compared
to 2005. Looking ahead to the upcoming season,
Tommasi is excited to blend the newcomers
with his returners in search of another championship.
