Newport.
The
victory
pushes
Methodist
(9-10-1)
into the
USA
South
Tournament
championship
game for
the
second
straight

Tournament

Tuesday
with a

shutout
over
visiting
Ferrum
at
Monarch
Soccerplex.
This
marks
the
sixth
straight
season
that
Methodist
has
advanced
to the
semifinals
of the
USA
South
Tournament.
Methodist
improves
to
8-10-1
overall
with the
victory.
The
Monarchs
have won
five of
their
last six
games.

Gipson receives prestigious USA South Don Scalf Award
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
Each
year, the USA South Athletic Conference released arguably
its most prestigious awards with one male and one female
with the Don Scalf Award, representing the Student Athletes
of the Year for the USA South. The 2005 Don Scalf Award was
released on Thursday, and Methodist soccer player Christina
Gipson was the proud recipient of the women’s award.

Monarch women's soccer schedule
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
Two tournaments highlight the 2005 Methodist Lady Monarch
women's soccer schedule, which was officially released on
Wednesday. Head coach Bobby Graham's Lady Monarchs play host
to the InnKeeper/Methodist Invitational on Sept. 3-4 against
Huntingdon and Rhodes, followed by playing at the Sewanee
Classic on Sept. 10-11 against Mississippi College and
Texas-Dallas. Other notable games on the 2005 schedule
include road contests at neighboring NCAA Division II rivals
UNC-Pembroke and Mount Olive, plus key USA South Athletic
Conference road showdowns at rivals Greensboro and
