Three women's soccer players have been selected to the NCCSIA All-State College Division team.  Twelve student-athletes, representing eight institutions make up the team with the Monarchs' three players the most from any team.  release

Women's Soccer Falls to Maryville in First Round of the NCAA Tournament
Maryville scores 2 goals in the second half to win 2-0
MARYVILLE, TN-  The Monarchs traveled to Maryville, TN for the weekend to take on Maryville College in the first round of the NCAA tournament.  The women were returning to the tournament for the first time in eleven years after advancing to the national championship in 1995.  After a scoreless first half, the Maryville Scots scored two in the second to win 2-0 and end the Monarchs most successful season since 1995.  The Monarchs finish at 16-4-2.  release

Women's Soccer Receives At-Large Bid to NCAA Tournament
Monarchs return to tournament after eleven year absence
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  During the late 1980s and early 1990s Methodist women's soccer was almost guaranteed a spot in the NCAA Division III tournament.  The Monarchs made appearances in 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1994, and 1995 advancing to the national championship game in 1995.  The first head coach, Joe Pereira built a powerhouse before taking over at Old Dominion University in 1995.  During the ten seasons prior to this fall, head coaches Phil Stephenson and Bobby Graham worked to return the team to the NCAA tournament.  release

Chrystal Bradley's Goal Sends Conference Championship to Overtime
Monarchs lose 3-2 in shootout to Christopher Newport
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Methodist women's soccer team has maintained a tight rivalry with Christopher Newport over the past few years, and Saturday's conference championship was no different.  The Monarchs came back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game and send it into overtime.  With no score in overtime, the two teams went to a shootout and Christopher Newport won the tournament championship, but the game is credited as a tie in the teams' overall record.  The Monarchs move to 16-3-2 overall and Christopher Newport is 13-5-1.  release

Women's Soccer Advances to Conference Championship
Junior Chrystal Bradley scores 2 goals in 5-1 win
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Monarchs took on Averett University in the second match of the USA South Conference semifinals on Friday.  They defeated the Cougars 5-1 to advance to the championship on Saturday versus conference rival Christopher Newport University.  Christopher Newport defeated Greensboro 3-0 in the first match of the day.  The Monarchs improve to 16-3-1 overall Averett finishes their season 10-8-1.  release

USA South Selects All-Conference Players
Monarchs sweep Coach, Player and Rookie of the Year honors
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- 
The USA South has released their All-Conference teams for the 2006 season.  The awards are based on their regular season play and voted on by the conference coaches.  The Monarchs swept the Coach, Player and Rookie of the Year awards as well as being awarded three first team honors, one second team, and one honorable mention.  release

Monarchs' Offense Rolls Through Peace 10-0
Junior Teresa Futrell scores first two goals of the season
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Monarchs defeated Peace 10-0 on Tuesday to win their first round game of the USA South Tournament.  They move to 15-3-1 overall while Peace finishes their season 3-12.  The Monarchs 10 goals broke another record to give them 104 goals on the season.  The record had been held by the 1989 team (in 23 games) for the past seventeen years.  The Monarchs also set a new assist record with 71 this season.  release

Junior Chyrstal Bradley scores hat trick in 5-0 win over Ferrum
FERRUM, VA-  The Monarchs finished their regular season Saturday when they traveled to Ferrum College.  Methodist won 5-0 to go undefeated in the conference.  They finish the regular season 14-3-1 overall and 7-0 in the conference while Ferrum moves to 6-11 overall and 3-4 in the USA South.  release

NCAA ranks Monarchs 4th in the South region
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Methodist College women's soccer has been popping up all over the place.  The NSCAA ranked the team 10th in the South region.  The NCAA has ranked the Monarchs 4th in the South region while D3Kicks.com ranks the team 8th in the region.  Each organization uses different factors to rank the teams, but regardless, the Monarchs strong push has the team first in the USA South with a 6-0 conference record and 13-3-1 overall record.  release

Freshman Michelle Anderson scores 3 goals in 7-0 win
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Monarchs clinched their first place seed in the USA South Athletic Conference with a 7-0 win over Shenandoah on Saturday.  The team will have a chance to go undefeated in the conference next Saturday when they travel to Ferrum.  The Monarchs improve to 13-3 and 6-0 in the conference while Shenandoah falls to 3-13 overall and 1-5 in the conference.  release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Monarchs remain undefeated in the USA South Conference with a 7-0 win over the Peace Pacers on Thursday.  Recently ranked fourth in the South region by the NCAA, the women's soccer team is on a roll, outscoring opponents 41-1 over the last four games.  The Monarchs improve to 12-3 and 5-0 in the conference while Peace moves to 3-8 and 0-5 in the conference.  release

Scoring offense listed 7th in the country
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Methodist College women's soccer team's scoring offense has been ranked seventh in Division III women's soccer for the entire country.  After scoring 59 goals in 13 games through October 15th, the NCAA has the Monarchs listed as seventh on the list.  After Tuesday's win over Mary Baldwin the team stands at 11-3 overall.  release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Monarchs continued their winning ways with a 15-0 win over Mary Baldwin on Tuesday.  The fifteen goals broke the program record for goals in a game.  Chrystal Bradley led all goal scorers with 3, notching her third consecutive hat trick.  Methodist moves to 11-3 on the season and remains 4-0 in the USA South.  release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The women's soccer team is on a scoring surge finishing 22 goals in 3 games in eight days.  In just thirteen games, the Monarchs have scored 59 goals, the most since 1995 when the national semifinal team scored 59 goals in 22 games.  Methodist moves to 10-3 on the season and remains 4-0 in the USA South after facing NAIA opponent Bluefield College.  release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  Christopher Newport was 8-3-2 all-time versus Methodist going into the game Saturday.  The Captains ended the Monarchs' season last year in the conference tournament, but the Monarchs made their presence known with a 3-1 victory today.  Methodist moves to 8-3 on the season and 3-0 in the USA South while Christopher Newport falls to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference.  release

MURFREESBORO, NC-  The Monarchs traveled to Chowan for a non-conference game with the Hawks hoping to continue a five game winning streak.  Unfortunately, Chowan forward Ashley Bradford beat the Monarch defense in the 31st minute to win the game 1-0.  Methodist moves to 7-3 on the season while Chowan improves to 7-4-1.  release

Freshman Whitney Roberson scores second career hat trick
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  With the Monarchs up 3-1 with 10 minutes remaining, the Meredith Angels decided the game was not over yet.  They tied the game with two goals in the 81st and 85th minutes but freshman Whitney Roberson finished things off with a game winning goal in the 86th minute to put the Monarchs up 4-3.  Both teams' records move to 4-2 on the season.  release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  Methodist head coach Tony Tommasi and Greensboro head coach Franco Bari faced off at the Monarch Soccerplex in their first conference game as new head coaches.  The Monarchs snapped a two-game losing skid to defeat Greensboro College 2-0.  Greensboro falls to 0-5 while the Monarchs move to 3-2.  release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Monarchs' women soccer team was hoping to rebound after their loss to Guilford earlier in the week, but found themselves losing 0-2 at halftime against St. Mary's.  Chrystal Bradley scored two in the second, but St. Mary's put a cap on the game with their third goal in the second half.  release

GREENSBORO, NC-  Chrystal Bradley started things off right in the 9th minute with a goal off of a deflection.  With the score 1-0 at halftime, Guilford came back to tie the game in the 55th minute.  Freshman Whitney Roberson countered with a goal in the 76th minute after she capitalized on a break in the defense.  Roberson leads the team with five goals in three games.  release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  After finding the first win of the season on Saturday against Hollins University, the Monarch women's soccer returned Sunday afternoon to take on the Cabrini Cavaliers.  The game was scoreless at halftime but both teams found some offense to rally in the second half.  Methodist moves to 2-0 with the victory. release

Former Texas Lutheran head coach brings passion, knowledge, and a wealth of experience to Methodist
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Methodist athletic director Bob McEvoy announced on Thursday the hiring of Tony Tommasi as the new head women's soccer coach at Methodist College. Tomassi comes to Methodist after serving as the head women’s soccer coach at Texas Lutheran University for the past five seasons.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Bobby Graham announced on Wednesday his formal resignation as the Women's Soccer Coach at Methodist College to pursue other interests. Graham's last day at Methodist will be May 26th. release
