Mississippi College edges Methodist 1-0 in double overtime at Sewanee Classic

SEWANEE, Tenn. –
The scoring struggles continued on Saturday for the Methodist Lady Monarch team at the Sewanee Classic. For the third straight game, the Lady Monarchs didn’t score and dropped a tough 1-0 decision against Mississippi College in double overtime. The defeat dropped Methodist to 2-3 overall on the season.

It’s not that the opportunities weren’t there for Methodist. The Lady Monarchs had 15 shots against the Choctaws, and received another outstanding performance from goalkeeper Amanda Evans. The freshman recorded nine saves. However, Mississippi College got the game-winner on Jennifer Benson’s goal in the 104th minute.

Methodist aims to halt the skid on Sunday, playing Texas-Dallas at 1 p.m. in the Sewanee Classic.
