Monarchs Pound NC Wesleyan 9-1
Bradley and Roberson each score a hat trick for the second time this season

ROCKKY MOUNT, NC-  Methodist women's soccer remains undefeated in the USA South Conference after defeating NC Wesleyan 9-1.  The Monarchs turned their offense on full force and never looked back.   Methodist moves to 9-3 on the season and 4-0 in the USA South while NC Wesleyan falls to 4-6-1 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

The scoring started early with a goal from junior Chrystal Bradley in the 5th minute on an assist from senior Elyse Myers.  Less than two minutes later freshman Whitney Roberson received a pass from junior Marie Finley and finished a 1v1 in the box to go up 2-0.  Freshman Michelle Anderson scored the third goal after a defensive misclear and then Roberson followed up with her second goal when she split the defense after receiving a pass from Bradley.  Roberson finished off her hat trick with the fifth goal of the game on a long shot with the assist to junior Teresa Futrell.  Freshman Christina Layson finished the first half scoring with her first goal of the year.

The second half started and NC Wesleyan scored a goal of their own on a shot from Reva McCloud.  Bradley chipped the goalkeeper for her second goal of the game after receiving a long pass from Finley.  The Monarchs were awarded a penalty kick in the 67th minute and Bradley converted the kick for her third goal of the game.  A minute later, Layson capitalized on a goalkeeper deflection and finished the scoring with the team's 9th goal of the game.  The Monarchs outshot the Bishops 24-14. 

Methodist goalkeepers Amanda Evans and Erin Swanson combined for 6 saves while Cary Trump and Bryanne Godfrey combined for the Bishops making 4 saves.

The Monarchs will host Bluefield College Saturday, October 14th at 3 pm.
