Monarchs Defeat Peace 7-0
Junior Brenda Chambers notches an assist in the game

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Monarchs remain undefeated in the USA South Conference with a 7-0 win over the Peace Pacers on Thursday.  Recently ranked fourth in the South region by the NCAA, the women's soccer team is on a roll, outscoring opponents 41-1 over the last four games.  The Monarchs improve to 12-3 and 5-0 in the conference while Peace moves to 3-8 and 0-5 in the conference.

Just five minutes into the first half, freshman Whitney Roberson had a shot saved but freshman Michelle Anderson was there to finish things off and give the Monarchs the early 1-0 lead.  Twenty minutes later, junior Chrystal Bradley set Anderson up with a header on the back post for her second goal of the game.  When Roberson was knocked down in the box in the 28th minute, play continued and Bradley finished off the goal.  Roberson made it 4-0 at halftime collecting a ball from Anderson and slotting the ball past the Peace goalkeeper.

In the second half, freshman Ashley Kolano found Roberson for her second goal before Bradley was awarded a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.  Bradley finished it easily to give the Monarchs the 6-0 lead.  In the 74th minute, Bradley received a pass from junior Brenda Chambers and knocked another one in to score.  Bradley's three goals give her a hat trick in the last four consecutive games.

Methodist goalkeepers Amanda Evans and Erin Swanson combined for the shutout while Peace goalkeeper Emily Stewart made 17 saves against the Monarchs' 33 shots.

The Monarchs will honor three seniors Elyse Myers, Jamie Oakes and Ashley Sloan when they host Shenandoah on Saturday at 1 pm.
