Lady Monarchs drop 4-0 decision to Texas-Dallas at Sewanee Classic

SEWANEE, Tenn. –
It was not a “Rocky Top” feeling for the Methodist Lady Monarchs women’s soccer team during their venture to Monteagle Mountain and the Sewanee Classic. After Saturday’s tough 1-0 double-overtime defeat to Mississippi College, the Lady Monarchs dropped a 4-0 decision to Texas-Dallas on Sunday.

The defeat, Methodist’s fourth straight, makes the Lady Monarchs 2-4 overall.

Natalie Taylor and Nicole Randall both proved to be thorns in the side of the Lady Monarchs. Taylor scored the first two goals for Texas-Dallas in the ninth and 15th minutes, and then assisted Randall’s first goal in the 22nd minute to give Texas-Dallas a 3-0 lead at halftime. Randall then scored again in the 62nd minute in the second half.

Methodist goalkeeper Amanda Evans recorded four saves.

Methodist opens USA South Athletic Conference play on Thursday at 4 p.m. at rival Greensboro.
